What are Required Unpaid Breaks?
Some Shifts require a minimum amount of unpaid break time. You'll see the requirement before you accept, and a reminder if your timesheet comes up short.
Where will I see the break requirement?
On the Shift itself, before you accept and while you work.
Before you accept a Shift, the requirement shows at the bottom of the Payment section, under your estimated earnings. It looks like this:
"You are required to take at least 75 minutes of total unpaid break time during the Shift."
Once you're scheduled, the same reminder appears at the top of Shift Details for the rest of the Shift.
The requirement is always shown as one total number of minutes. If you don't see a reminder, the Shift doesn't have a break requirement.
Why is my estimated pay lower than the hourly rate times the Shift length?
Your estimate doesn't include unpaid break time.
Estimated pay is based on the Shift length minus the required break. The hours shown under Estimated Hourly Pay already have the break taken out.
Do I need to do anything during the Shift?
Just take your break and pause your clock while you're on it.
The app won't time your break or send break reminders, so keep track of it yourself. Your break time is recorded on your Shift timeline when you pause and resume.
What happens if my timesheet shows less break time than required?
You'll see a reminder, but you can still submit.
If the break on your timesheet is shorter than the requirement, a red reminder appears on your timesheet. When you submit, you'll be asked to confirm. Tap Yes, Submit to send it as is, or No, Go Back to make changes.
If you didn't take the full break, submit your timesheet the way it actually happened. There's no penalty, pay deduction, or mark on your record for a short break.
If your break meets the requirement, you won't see a reminder at all.
